BrightSwipe
BrightSwipe was created to make online dating safer by enabling quick background checks. The product translated complex API data — such as marital status or criminal records — into clear and accessible insights for users, while complying with strict privacy and app store policies.
The challenge
The main challenge was to simplify complex background-check data into trustworthy, user-friendly information while ensuring compliance and defining a viable pricing strategy that balanced API costs, payment fees, and conversion opportunities.
My role
As Product Designer and Product Owner, I led product definition and UX direction, collaborating closely with developers and stakeholders.
I also supervised and guided a Senior Designer, ensuring that business goals and user needs were consistently translated into cohesive, functional designs.
Key contributions included
- Mapping and documenting API responses to guide interface logic and visual structure.
- Designing user and admin flows in Figma.
- Defining exception-handling patterns for ambiguous or incomplete data.
Process & Outcomes
Through iterative design and internal testing, we refined the flow for sensitive data visualization and improved response handling. The MVP launched successfully and later evolved into BrightCheck, a B2B platform endorsed by Tinder (US) and featured on Awwwards and Crunchbase.
Key Learnings
- Validate API documentation directly with technical teams.
- Design for edge cases early — reliability depends on it.
- When handling sensitive data, clarity and ethics are non-negotiable.
